An excellent exhibition entitled ‘Coast’ was on display in the Fylde Gallery, Booths, Lytham, from the last week of June until the first week of August.

Some of our most lovely paintings were amongst those on show, all of which had some association with the sea or shoreline.

‘Returning Home from the Fishing Grounds’, 1899, pictured above, and ‘Shore Scene with Trawlers’, 1893, pictured below, were two popular exhibits, both by artist William Joseph J C Bond, 1833 – 1926.

Also two old favourites by Henry Meynell Rheam, 1859 – 1920, ‘On the Lookout’, 1890, and ‘Harbour Scene with Figures’, 1889,  were part of this exhibition, which aimed to bring together works of different mediums in celebration of the mysticism and romanticism of the sea and her shores.
