Cornfield at Evening is a watercolour by the Liverpool born artist, John Pedder, 1850-1929.

On marriage he moved to Maidenhead where he had a studio. He exhibited widely and was a member of several art societies including The Liverpool Society of Painters in Watercolours and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour.  He also joined the Royal British Colonial Society of Artists which was formed for the purpose of holding exhibitions in the colonies.

He was mainly a landscape painter of rural scenes which are still popular today.

Pedder also provided illustrations for the book A Trip Around the World 1887/1878.
