Winter in Holland is an oil on canvas painted by Austrian artist, Julius Bayer, 1840-1883.
His paintings were typical of the Dutch Romanticism movement where landscapes took centre stage. The Dutch frozen landscape with skaters was a favourite subject of the artist.
This was donated to the Collection in 1931 by John Broadbent, a wealthy Manchester cotton manufacturer. He had strong links to the Fylde as his father died in St Annes in 1925.
