Bird’s Nest and Flowers was painted by Mary Annie Ensor nee Gregory, (1837-1886).

An oil on panel it is typical of her work as she specialized in small, detailed paintings of birds, fruit and flowers.

Married to Henry Ensor, a dentist and landscape artist, she lived in Liverpool and Birkenhead. Their two sons also painted so it was a family concern.

Mary exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street.
