Bolton born artist with strong links to the Fylde.
Courtyard Scene, Kings Arms, Kendal was painted by Bolton born, Fred Balshaw (1860-1936).
A prolific, versatile and widely exhibited painter he had strong links to the Fylde being a member of Blackpool Sketching Club, Honourable Secretary of Fylde Art Soiety and Sketching Club in 1926 and President of Blackpool Art Society in 1930.
He died from injuries received when knocked down by a cattle wagon on Blackpool Road.
Many of his works are to be found in Northern Galleries. This watercolour depicts an old coaching house in Kendal demolished in 1934. It was donated by his daughter, Freda Doeg, in 1945.
