This painting, Mother & Children (1925) was donated to the Lytham St Annes Art Collection by Richard Shore on 30 September 1946. At that time he lived at 22 Queens Road. I wonder if anyone remembers him or his family?
The artist, Bernard de Hoog (1886-1943), a Dutch genre painting, was noted for his domestic scenes where children played a major part as in this oil on canvas. He transformed the ordinary domestic setting into something of beauty and one that appealed to the buying public of the day.
