Sophie Fuce, Collections Development Officer, employed by Fylde Borough Council, is working towards achieving accreditation of the LSA Art Collection.
She is responsible for all aspects of looking after the Collection and displaying it in the Fylde Gallery.
Working closely with the Manager of Booths in Lytham, who shares her aspirations for the Gallery, Sophie is keen to increase the visibility of this lovely exhibition space.
The display of all artworks from the Collection will be organised professionally and to the high standards required by the Arts Council, who will eventually award the accreditation should Sophie be successful.
Other exhibitors will also be expected to follow procedures in keeping with the standards to do with the displaying of artworks and consideration of factors including insurance, opening times, invigilation & health & safety etc.
Apart from exhibitions, Sophie will oversee all matters to do with the care of the Collection including its storage and conservation ensuring the standards are maintained in accordance with what is expected for an accredited collection.
The reward this is greater recognition of the Collection and with it an increased ability to generate funding for it, eventually, hopefully, leading to a new purpose-built art gallery.
Friends are represented on the Arts Advisory Group (formerly known as the Arts Working Group) which Sophie chairs.
Also represented is the LSA Civic Society, The Arts Society, Fylde Booths and an elected Council member.
